We begin to core out the old wet transom plywood that was slowly rotting due to water intrusion from our failing hydraulic swim platform. We learned how to do this by researching on the internet (a lot of YouTube). We also consulted the Gougeon Brothers (manufacturers of West System) as well as many other companies’ technical support help.
We had little experience with fiberglass prior to this, but were willing to learn how to do it yourself, and we save tens of thousands of dollars by doing so. This isn’t a how-to boat repair video, but rather a nice overview of some of the work involved in our haulout that took place at 3D Boat Yard on Stock Island, just outside of Key West.
